Microsoft follow a “Fixed Lifecycle Policy” which provides a minimum of five years Mainstream Support and an additional period of Extended Support for some products. Hence customers with on-premises solutions should be aware of the “mainstream end date” and the “extended end date”. In comparison Cloud products follow the “Modern Lifecycle Policy” whereby products are supported continuously with no end dates. To follow the “Modern Lifecycle Policy” customers need to stay current as per the servicing and system requirements published for the product or service and the customer must be licensed to use the product or service.

We recommend upgrading to the SaaS (Cloud) versions of the product, so the software always stays up to date with the latest updates released by Microsoft. However, we recognise that some clients might still opt for an on-premises version for various reasons. In such cases we will agree an upgrade frequency with the client to maintain the software up to date.
